Tap, Jazz, Street Jazz and Ballet/Lyrical classes require proper Dance Attire (leotard, a pair of tights (No Baggy pants, shorts or shirts are allowed). NO BLUE JEANS OR LONG PANTS ALLOWED! Hair neatly off the face, preferably in a ponytail or bun(make sure it will stay secured for the duration of your lesson). If you are unable to put hair up then it must be pinned back off of the face. If hair is worn down and you are touching it then you will be asked to put it up and pin it back. Bangs must be pulled or pinned back unless they are shorter than your eyebrows.
Hip Hop/Street Jazz require pants or capris(eg. sweats, track pants, dance pants) and any type of shirt(eg. Bunny hugs, Tank top, T-Shirt).
For Tap: Tap Shoes - Dancers will use Black Leather Tap Shoes. Beginners can use the patent leather tap shoes and replace the ribbon tie with an elastic to stay secure. Capezio Tele-Tone Taps on toes and heels. It is recommended to have a no-slip grip tread on all tap shoes.
For Jazz/Street Jazz: Jazz Shoes - Black leather split sole jazz shoes (tie up or slip on) . Beginners can dance bare feet or socks for the first three months.
For Ballet: Dancers will use a pink ballet slipper ( leather or cloth)
For Lyrical: Dancers will use a Beige split sole jazz shoe (tie up or slip on)
For Contemporary: Dancers will be required to go barefoot or use the same as Lyrical
For Broadway/Musical Theatre: Dancers will use Black split sole jazz shoe or Character Shoes.
For Hip Hop/Break Dance: Indoor Running shoes(Non Marking Soles), preferably mostly white.
All dance shoes should be purchased by the end of the first three months. For previous year students, please note the above when purchasing new or used dance shoes. If you are unsure about which shoes your dance class is using, please speak to Sandra or your instructor, before purchasing shoes.
